Ezclopedia: Where True Knowledge is Shared and Appreciated
What is Ezclopedia?
Ezclopedia is an online, knowledge sharing website that provides a better alternative for qualified individuals to share their knowledge and provide free, reliable, trustworthy information and get the credit and revenue sharing they deserve for their sincere, knowledgeable efforts.

The following are key concepts that differentiate Ezclopedia with other wiki, knowledge sharing websites:

  • We believe collaboration will produce high quality articles.
We believe collaboration will produce high quality articles. An Author may write an article alone or work with two or more Authors who share the same opinion, belief or expertise. The Author who starts the article is called the Lead Author and Author(s) who contribute to the content of an article are called Co-authors. A Lead Author may invite other Author(s) to become Co-author(s) of an article. Additionally, Authors may apply to become Co-authors of articles started by a Lead Author. In both cases, the Lead Author maintains complete control over who can contribute to or edit an article. Once approved by the Lead Author, a Co-author will have direct access to edit or expand on an article. Each Author contribution to the content of an article is tracked using Ezclopedia's exclusive, patent pending algorithm.

Authors who do not want their articles edited by others can still collaborate with other Author(s) by requesting a peer-review of an article. An Author can also apply to peer-review articles written by other Authors. Peer-reviewers do not have access to an article for editing purposes. Peer-reviewers can discuss an article with and provide feedback to Lead Authors through email, instant messenger, or through other means of communication. Once feedback is received, the Lead Author should update the article based on the input provided by the Peer-reviewer.

  • We believe healthy competition will produce high quality articles.
We also believe healthy competition will produce high quality articles. Ezclopedia allows different Authors or groups of Authors to write articles using the same title. Since multiple Authors can write about the same topic, no single Author can prevent other Authors from expressing their different views. Readers will have the opportunity to learn about a topic or issue from several different points of view. Ultimately, readers will decide which articles should be ranked or rated higher than the others.

  • We believe Authors should receive the appreciation, recognition and reward they deserve.
We know that the quality of our Authors is a key factor in the success of Ezclopedia, and in our effort to build an extensive, trustworthy online knowledge sharing website. Without them, there won't be any articles written or expert knowledge to share. Our Authors receive the appreciation and recognition they deserve. Furthermore, as a for profit organization, we believe it is unethical to directly or indirectly use content contributed by our Authors to earn profits without sharing these earnings with our Authors.

However, Authors should not join Ezclopedia exclusively to derive earnings from our revenue sharing program. Not all Authors will receive significant revenue from our revenue sharing program. Authors should join Ezclopedia because they want to share their knowledge and help educate people all over the world.
Why Do We Need Ezclopedia?
People need free, reliable, trustworthy information. About one million Web users visit Wikipedia, the open source, online encyclopedia each day. And while this online information-sharing site is, indeed, a noble experiment, Wikipedia's entries deliver varying degrees of trustworthiness and objectivity. Wikipedia relies on volunteer editors who provide a broad, peer-review process of content. Even so, it's still possible to get something by these volunteers that's unfairly biased or just plain wrong. Other limitations and weaknesses of the Wikipedia model are well known.

  • Anyone can access Wikipedia articles to add misinformation and disinformation. Further, it can take weeks or even months before these "spoofs" are detected and corrected.
  • The open source model defined by Wikipedia enables anyone to change and/or rearrange an article in any way. The result? Lost information or, in some cases, unreadable articles that no longer make sense.
  • People attach content to entries instead of adding to the main topic. Wikipedia contains an abundance of articles that are only a line or two long. Editors who find these "stubs" may or may not be authorities on the subject, and so they wait to learn more as additional content is added. If these volunteer editors do actually add any content, it often lacks quality research and writing.
  • Anyone can delete large sections of text from articles, or even an entire article, ruining hours and hours of hard work. This practice is called "blanking" by those in the Wikipedia community, and it's considered vandalism, though no mechanism exists to stop blanking activity.
  • Many philosophers have argued that nothing is ever completely true for everyone in all contexts. Therefore Wikipedia's "neutral point of view" policy is doomed to fail because no body of text will be considered editorially neutral to everyone.
  • Authors of articles, regardless of level of expertise, receive no credit for their contributions.
How Can Ezclopedia Help Solving the Problems?
Ezclopedia delivers solutions for these wiki-limitations. Unlike articles on Wikipedia that can be edited by any user, articles on Ezclopedia can only be added to or edited by registered Authors. Authors are professionals, authorities and experts from various disciplines, and from countries worldwide, who are invited by Ezclopedia or recommended by other registered Authors to write articles for publication in Ezclopedia. Alternatively, would-be Authors may apply to become Ezclopedia Authors by completing a short and fast registration process and submitting appropriate credentials (i.e. resumes, curriculum vitaes, and other references) for review and approval.

Ezclopedia provides a collaborative environment for people to share their knowledge. An Author can work alone or collaborate with other Authors (Co-authors) to research and write an article. A Lead Author, an Author who begins a new article, may invite other Author(s) to become Co-author(s) of his/her article. Similarly, a registered Ezclopedia Author may apply to become a Co-author of an article started by a Lead Author. In addition, an Author may ask other Author(s) to peer-review his/her article(s). In any case, the Lead Author maintains control over who will be allowed to contribute to, or peer-review, his/her article. This eliminates "spoofing" and ensures a higher degree of content authority and reliability.

Ezclopedia is a web site where people can openly share their thoughts and discuss their differences. In Ezclopedia, multiple Authors or groups of Authors can write articles on the same topic, or with the same title, but from different points of views. No Authors can monopolize a point of view by preventing other Authors from writing differing opinions.

Ezclopedia does not limit topics that can be written by Authors. Authors can write about almost anything, from an encyclopedic entry, story, news, travel, customer review to company profile articles. Authors can even start new categories and sub-categories within Ezclopedia.

Ezclopedia understands that knowledge contributed by its Authors is valuable. Thus, Ezclopedia is committed to protecting intellectual properties owned by its Authors and others. All articles published in Ezclopedia are available under the terms of the Creative Commons Licenses - Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike. Ezclopedia does not allow any infringement of copyrights and will remove any works that violate copyright law upon notification.

Ezclopedia is free for people to use. Since its inception, Ezclopedia has been a for-profit organization that will use knowledge contributed by its generous Authors to maintain standards of quality and earn a profit for the organization and its contributing Authors. Each article page will contain contextual advertising related to the contents of the article. Advertising revenue generated by each article is shared among Author(s) of the article and Ezclopedia. Ezclopedia has developed an algorithm (patent pending) that tracks the contributions of each Author and distributes ad-based revenue generated by the article to each Author based on his/her contribution.

Using Your Real Name or Screen Name
We encourage our Authors to use their real names when publishing articles through Ezclopedia. We believe articles written by Authors who use their real names and credentials will have more credibility and thus, receive higher ratings from our readers. However, we also recognize that for personal or other reasons (i.e., political), some Authors prefer not to reveal their real names. They use their Ezclopedia screen names instead. For this reason, during the registration process, Authors may elect to use their screen names for all communication with Ezclopedia readers. Authors must still provide their real names and contact information to Ezclopedia. However, we will not reveal Author's real names to our readers. Please see our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy for more-detailed information about the use of personal information.

Writing Your First Article
We encourage Authors to write about themselves as part of their first article. We believe articles written by Authors who provide credentials to readers will have more credibility and thus, receive a higher reader rating. Authors should provide personal and professional information that is relevant to their areas of expertise as part of any article submission. Such information can include, but is not limited to, education background, working experience, research and publications, and professional affiliations.

Participating in Our Revenue Sharing Program*
Authors can participate in our revenue sharing program by selecting this option during the registration process. Authors who choose not to participate when they complete the registration process may join the program later by updating their options from their account page. All payments to Authors will be made through PayPal. Please read our Terms and Conditions for more detailed information about our revenue sharing program.

There are two ways Ezclopedia shares its revenues with Authors: Article Based Revenue Sharing and Active Author Appreciation.

Article Based Revenue Sharing
Advertising revenues generated by each article published in Ezclopedia will be shared with the corresponding Author(s). Authors will receive a monthly report listing the advertising revenue generated by their articles and their share of the advertising revenues derived from their work. Revenues generated by articles written by two or more Authors will be shared among the Authors based on the percentage of contribution made by each Author. Authors are eligible to receive Article Based Revenue Sharing as long as their articles are published in Ezclopedia and generate revenue (please read our Terms and Conditions for more information).

Active Author Appreciation
We know that not all articles will be accessed by a broad audience. Highly technical or scientific articles may have a smaller target audience and, therefore, generate less advertising revenue. However, without these articles, Ezclopedia will not be a complete knowledge sharing destination on the Internet. To demonstrate our appreciation to all of the Authors for their contributions, Ezclopedia introduces the Active Author Appreciation program. Active Authors who have published at least 10 articles with an average rating of at least four stars, and who write at least one new article within six months, are eligible to participate in this program. Every six months, Ezclopedia will share a percentage of revenues generated by all articles in the preceding six month period.
